The Health of the Country (revisited)
A good way to evaluate the health of any country is the rate of obesity.
This is shocking!
The US obesity prevalence was 42.4% in 2018 and is even higher today. From 1999 –2000 through 2018, US obesity prevalence increased from 30.5% to 42.4%. During the same time, the prevalence of severe obesity increased from 4.7% to 9.2%.
There is no question that almost all of us know the basic methods to reduce weight and improve health. It is simple and inexpensive. Reduce daily calories to under 2,500 and get at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise each day. More education is not helping as it appears the will to improve is lacking.
How does the USA’s obesity rate compare to other countries?
Spain – 23.8%
Norway – 23.1
Germany – 22.2%
Finland – 22.2%
France – 21.6 %
Sweden – 20.6%

Switzerland – 19.5%
